Client: CAMBIO / Shine Publishing
Services: naming, brand identity, print, packaging
Collaborators: Kam Peck (illustrator)
Shine Publishing was ready to publish their first curriculum for speech-language pathologists. She had an illustrator on board for character design, and needed a designer to develop a new brand, design all of the materials, and provide creative direction to the illustrator.
Joybound:
joy (happiness)
bound (within a book, towards a destination, leaping strides)

Formerly Shine Publishing, the client wanted to keep the positive vibe with a new name that could be trademarked. The name Joybound speaks to a progressive journey for kids who stutter, through a curriculum made to be appealing for children.
The comprehensive curriculum set is housed in a box and includes a 126-page manual, 76 worksheets, 137 lesson plans on dividers, 7 posters, 16 card sets, and an interactive magnet set.

I provided creative direction on each illustration across the entire curriculum. Characters were designed to be inclusive of genders and physical ability, and each character is illustrated to be younger in earlier lessons and slightly older in later lessons.
The speech-language curriculum has been well-received by speech language pathologists for the curriculum itself, as well as the kid-forward design and representation present in the characters.
